Technical description: Set of Highland bagpipes, large three-quarter (or 7/8) size, with original chanter, blowpipe, bass and tenor drones. Ebony with silver and ivory mounts and ferrules, and silver tops.Chanter: original chanter. Seven finger-holes and one thumb-hole. Lapped tenon with ivory bulb. Silver sole. Silver ferrule on stock.Blowpipe/mouthpiece: Original blowpipe and mouthpiece. Lapped tenons. Valve of white plastic. Silver ferrule on stock. Ivory bulb. Ebony blowpipe with turned comb pattern. Silver mouthpiece.Bass Drone: three sections. Ebony with turned comb pattern. Silver top and tenons, the silver tubes descending all the length inside the ivory projecting mounts. Silver and ivory ferrules.Tenor drones: two sections. Silver top and tenons, the silver tubes descending all the length inside the ivory projecting mounts. Silver and ivory ferrulesBag: modern leather bag.Bag cover/cord: red tartan woollen cover with matching cord.Measurements: chanter length 355, conical bore beginning at 4.0. and ending at 18; bass drone length c725, bore at top 10; tenor drones length c350, bore at top 9.1. Repair History: According to the previous owner, the bushings are replacements in blackwood. Replacement bag, cover, and valve. The blowpipe is probably a replacement by Mark Cushing for an earlier owner.
