Violin

Belly of a single piece of pine, with two f-shaped soundholes, the back of two pieces of sycamore. Back and front inlaid with purfling of two dark lines and one light line. Sides, neck and scrolled head all of sycamore. Fingerboard, nut, tailpiece and scored chinrest all of ebony. Bridge of beech. Four strings (one steel, two gut, one overspun), held in the head by ebony pegs. With bow, in own fitted case of brown crocodile skin, lined with red velvet and labelled inside, "Rushworth and Dreaper Ltd, Orchestral Instrument Specialists, 11–17 Islington, Liverpool"
