Philomele
Belly of a single piece of pine, with two flame-shaped soundholes, inlaid around the outer edge with boxwood stringing and with a band of alternating boxwood and ebony. Flat back of a single piece of sycamore. Sides, neck and head, the latter carved in the form of a lion's head, all of sycamore. Fingerboard of a lighter wood, with open carved decoration at bridge end. Nut and bridge of ebony, the bridge with an inlaid strip of brass across the top. Four strings, two steel and two overspun, held by pins in the bridge and by four rosewood pegs in the head.
