Oblong chest, hinged along front and back. Upper part lifts up and lower drops down. Painted under-lid, and lower panel. Integral supporting stand. Decorated soundboard, gilded edges. Painted panel in front of keyboards. Compass 4 and half octaves from BB-f. Accidental keys black, while usually white ones are golden brown. Set of strings (one to a note) runs diagonally from farther left corner to nearer right, starting with largest (lowest). Tuning pegs on right. Jack-rail diagonally across line of the strings, jacks grouped in twos down diagonal line. Jacks adjustable for voicing and each must be removed and separately trimmed.
