Guitar

A guitar where the sound-hole has no rose, but it is set within a rosette ornament inlaid with eye-like motifs of ivory. This eye motif reappears on the fingerboard, along the sides, on the stringbar, and on the head. Moustachios flow outwards from the bridge in a filigree design inlaid with little dots of ivory. The back and sides are made of a rich dark tropical hardwood with white ivory inlay, designed in the form of three looping cords. A long and steeply angled head is grafted onto the neck. The heel is built up in three parts. Twelve ivory pegs, decorated with black dots, carry six double courses, which are fixed lopsided to the string bar and have been reconfigured. Two of the string holes are larger than the others, and the last hole on the bass side has been added. Originally, it must have had five courses, gathered in two triple strings and three double. The frets are missing, but the impress of gut frets is faintly visible on the neck.
