Upright pianoforte
'Pianette' small cottage upright piano by Broadwood, serial number 40,337. Ebonised casework with decorative inlaid brass stringing. High-quality fretwork in the top and bottom doors. High-quality ivory keys in excellent condition. An internal paper 'bespoke' label, attached inside at the top right-hand-side of the tuning plank, has the hand-written words 'Mrs Houchen' on it. Made by John Broadwood & Sons at their Horseferry Road workshop, Westminster, London, 1873-05-29. Despatched almost a year after its creation, 1874-05-05, to its original owner "Major Houchen".
