Grand pianoforte

Piano, ‘baby Grand Piano’ made by George Rogers & Sons, a London maker established in 1843. The majority of Rogers pianos were made between 1890 and 1930 and this one was most probably built before 1918, at which date Rogers merged with Hopkinson. Rogers pianos were celebrated in their day for a rich, warm tone, very suitable for domestic situations and as ensemble instruments. The range of this piano is exactly seven octaves. It is triple strung from the top to bass G, double strung for one octave, then single strings to the bottom of the instrument.
