Marimba
Marimba/xylophone. Ten strips of wood mounted on a frame tied with gut threads and carrying handle. Made from somewhat flat segments of wood, ten in number, which are attached to a single bar. The slabs of wood are adzed to slenderness in the middle. Underneath, and attached to the bar, are a number of smal gourds which act as resonators. The instrument is played with little hard sticks by a man standing or sitting on the ground. (Compare with marimba in Zulu collection). 2 drum sticks missing
