Bass drum
This bass drum was used by the Castletown Metropolitan Band (as seen in 1890s photographs of the Band). The shell is of painted wood (some paint missing). There is one vellum skin missing and one broken one. The shell is decorated with a view of Castle Rushen from Market Square, draped red curtains with gold tassel ropes, 3 legs (triskelion) with motto, 'Metropolitan Silver Prize Band' 'EPH Higham maker 58 Erskine Street, Hulme, Manchester'.
