Rattle

Rattle made from gourds, 1870s One of three rattles acquired during the 2nd Ashanti War, 1873-74. Ten gourds filled with dried seeds, mounted on three sticks and joined with plaited vegetable fibres. These rattles were meant to be attached to the lower part of the leg, above the ankle, while dancing.
