Clarinet
Clarinet made of boxwood in five sections (barrel, upper joint, middle joint, lower stock joint, bell) with ivory ferrules and brass keywork. Wooden mouthpiece with grooves. Lower stock joint with fusiform bulge and extra tone hole for right little finger. Seven keys mounted in raised rings, blocks and lower joint stock bulge, with flat, square covers, and flat springs attached to keys. The F4/C6 key appears to have been a later addition, as it is mounted on a brass saddle plate, screwed onto the body, and its shank extends unusually far from the body. Cranked F-sharp3/C-sharp5. Nominal pitch: B-flat or A. The stamped pitch letters in the joints indicate that this clarinet had once "corps de rechange."
