Grand pianoforte

Grand piano (6') by Erard Paris, numbered 74405. Date 1896. Cased in oak, reinforced and framed in pine, and veneered in vertically grained rosewood. Restored autumn 2001. Straight strung. Single strung AAA-GG, bichord GGSharp- F, trichord Fsharp-a’’’’. Two pedals for duo corda and damper/sustain. According to the Erard Archives the piano was probably finished in March 1896 and sent to Erard’s London showroom on 25 June 1896. It was originally fitted with a metal resonator - a perforated metal plate suspended under the soundboard. This is now missing.
