Serpent, anon, c.1830. wood covered in black leather, not original. Bone rims to finger holes. Brass bell mount not original. Mouthpiece replaced, four brass keys. English serpents (273) Note: the serpent is classified as a brass cornet and therefore a brass instrument. Bought from Oliver Smith and Co. 34 High Street Oxford 15th July 1933. Two old serpents £10.
