Bass drum

Bass drum, 18th century, painted blue with a crown. Previously associated with inventory number SNO.MC.186. 'English 18th century military long drum or bass drum painted blue with a crown and two nautical flags.' (M.Jessop) Charles Wade refers to this item in his inventory for Admiral (SNO.MISC.959.2, pg 5). '6. Large Painted Drum coloured blue, a crown between two narrow vibands + two flags'. Wade has included a detailed sketch of the drum in this notebook.
