Cikara

Indian cikara or sarod, instrument painted and lacquered with flowers in red, black, and green. Swan head finial to the peg box. Eight tuning keys, strings missing. 'Cikara, an 18th century folk fiddle of Northern India probaly from Uttar Pradesh, (previously) with three playing strings and eight wire sympathetic strings.' The peg box is decorated with the head of a swan. (M. Jessup).
