Lamellaphone
Lamellaphone, kalimba type. Quadrilateral shape, with three sides carved with a raised lip, and with a curved proximal side. A metal rod projects from the middle of the curved side with three rattling metal rings threaded through it. Nine iron lamellae of graduated lengths, the longest in the middle, run over a metal bridge and are kept in place by a straining bar. A gourd resonator is attached to the instrument with string. From the Urungwe area of Zimbabwe
