Side-blown horn, ng'ombe
Ng'ombe, side-blown horn. An antelope (Tragelaphus spekii) horn with triangular cross section and bell, and a helical twist of over 360 degrees. The proximal end is conical, the sides of the triangle developing between the tip and mouth hole. The mouth hole is elliptical and is positioned on one of the side faces approximately one third of the way down. An orange cotton carrying cord with several knots is wrapped round the horn beneath the mouth hole.
