Keyed bugle
Keyed bugle in C. Copper with brass tuning bit and shank of crook, and silver-plated brass keys, bell garland, mouthpipe, braces, saddle grip, mouthpiece receiver on crook and mouthpiece. Seven keys, pillar mounted and with leaf springs. Keys have flat round flaps and felt pads. The key closest to bell (B natural key) has a bascule joint and an adjustment screw, which passes through the shank and engages with the pillar plate. With tuning bit, B flat crook and mouthpiece. Crook is circular and both the crook and the bit have a ferrule at the lower end with a round finger plate at each side. A silver plate attached to the bell is engraved with the image of a bird with outspread wings within a circular banner. The banner inscription reads: Nec temere, nec timide; A stamped inscription on the bell garland reads: IMPROVED/& MADE BY/CHAS PACE/49 KING ST/WESTINSTER.
