Fiddle; bow

Fiddle, tayàw, and bow. The body outline is roughly violin shaped, the table and back arched, the ribs with various openings. The table has two soundholes. The body and neck are painted or lacquered black. The neck is short, with a peg-box carrying the three massive flat-headed (not uniform) pegs, surmounted by an elaborately carved finial that is coloured red and gold. Three cord strings (one coloured red) are attached by a stout orange-coloured cord to a large turned tail-piece. A blue fabric bag containing the bridge and a set of spare strings is attached to the head. The bow is shaped at one end to form a simple integral frog. There are fabric bindings on the frog and the middle of stick. The black horse-hair is plaited into a fabric cord at the frog end.
