Fiddle
Tayàw, fiddle. The back is rounded with a central spine that continues up the neck. Skin soundtable. The joint between the membrane and the ribs is protected by a beaded border. The peg-box is scroll-shaped and enriched by gables of carved foliage. The finial is in the form of a parrot, with red and blue striped wings. Three small pegs. No nut. The three gut strings are tied to a terminal knob. The bridge is flat and deeply slotted. The instrument is painted black over a red ground, producing an aubergine shade. The peg box and finial are predominantly gilt, with red details and there is decoration in gold on the body.
