Duct flute; pinkillu
Saripalka pinkillu, duct flute. The instrument is made from two halves of a branch of jarka wood (genus: Albizia),held together with nine sections of ox tendon binding. The mouthpiece has a beak and is curved towards the player. The block is missing. The mouth or window is rectangular. The six oval fingerholes are arranged in two groups of three. The letters 'E:P' are inscribed at the side of the window on the player's left, and a geometric pattern including a Latin cross is inscribed on the front of the instrument below the top section of binding.
