Sho; mouth organ
Sho. 17 polished bamboo pipes fitted into a black lacquered gourd with silver mounted mouthpiece. Three pipes are brass mounted. Pipes retained by a brass ring carved to resemble bamboo. 14 of the pipes are fitted with finely cut brass reeds (some missing). Each pipe is labelled on its inner face with a Japanese character. Formerly owned by Charles Wheatstone.
