Ningxiang Sanmudi Large Nao (Bronze nao with cloud pattern)

Well preserved. The whole body of the instrument is covered in emerald green patina. It has a short tubular rod named yong (handle), which has a raised collar called xuan. The underside (wu) is flat and the two xian points are straight. The instrument has a wide body. The mouth (yu) is curved slightly. The body of the instrument is very exquisitely decorated, mainly with cloud patterns. The animal faces featured on the original animal-mask motif large nao have been simplified; only two protruding diamond-shaped eyes remain. There are also cloud patterns on the yong. The xuan is decorated with C-shaped patterns.
