Changde Chunyu with Tiger Figurine (Bronze drum with tiger design)

Many parts of the bell (including the top rim) were broken and have been restored. Made of Bronze, with light green colour on the body of the drum. The drum is of a gourd-like shape with an oval shaped cross-section. The body is quite thick and is hollow in the middle. The sides rise from the bottom edge straight up before swelling in a gourd-like shape. The top surface is oval in shape and has a tiger figurine (walking with its head raised) in the middle. The base is flat. Cloud patterns are cast on the tiger. There are two sun motifs on the tiger’s head. A 6cm wide panel around the base of the drum is decorated with intertwining cloud and thunder patterns. The waist section of the drum is decorated with tiger motifs.
