Zuitao Qin

The top and bottom surfaces of the qin are made of platane wood. The cap corner (guanjue), bridge (yueshan) and dew-receptor (chenglu) are all made of hardwood. The goose feet are made of Chinese boxwood. This instrument does not have any tuning pegs, but has mother-of-pearl inlays (hui). There are no cracks (duanwen) on the surfaces of the qin, which are painted with chestnut shell colour lacquer. The bamboo nails at the back from the head to the shoulders of the qin are slightly protruding. There are two large curves on either side of the qin.
