Haiyue Qinghui Qin
The top and bottom surfaces of the qin are made of fir wood. The cap corner (guanjue), bridge (yueshan) and dew-receptor (chenglu) are all made of redwood. The qin has redwood goose feet, padauk wood tuning pegs and mother-of-pearl inlays. It has no cracks (duanwen) on it. It was painted with huitai [a grey coating that turns black when dried] and is of a chestnut reddish black colour. The raised sound retainers are round. The qin has no inscriptions on its belly.

- Inscriptions:The name of the qin, “Haiyue Qinghui”,is written in small seal script in between the large sound hole (longchi) and the goose feet.|A poem about this qin in clerical script is carved in a round seal between the large sound hole and the peg pool (zhenchi). It is then signed with two seals. |An inscription referencing the owner’s discovery of this qin is carved around the large sound hole. It is followed by a small seal.
