Yujian Mingquan Qin

The top surface of the qin is made of platane wood and the bottom surface is made of ovate catalpa wood. The cap corner (guanjue), bridge (yueshan) and dew-receptor (chenglu) are all made of padauk wood, and are not painted. It is hard to determine the material that the goose feet are made of as they are covered in lacquer. The qin has no tuning pegs and the mother-of-pearl inlays (hui) are worn away. It has no cracks (duanwen) on the surfaces and only a thin layer of black lacquer (without an underlayer coating). The raised sound retainers (nayin) are rectangular.
