Violin

This violin was almost certainly made by the Cumberland violin maker John Fisher Maghie of Dalston. This is a 4/4 size violin, its overall lenght being 59 cm. The back is one piece made from maple, while the belly is made of two pine pieces with double purfling. The neck is made of wood, possibly maple and the fingerboard is possibly made of ebony. The violin is covered with a golden-brown varnish and there is not a label inside.The strings are not streched and the bridge is not in place.The bridge is made of wood and it is inscribed Aubert.
