Glockenspiel

Glockenspiel integral with a wooden carrying case. Thirty bars of plated steel stamped with note names; lowest and highest Cs stamped, 'PREMIER'. Bars and frames for accidentals can be disassembled for travel. A luggage label has the following inscription in black ink in the hand of the percussionist James Blades - 'ORIGINALLY PURCHASED (c.1930) BY C. BLADES PRICE NEW £5.00 / 2.5 G-C PREMIER GLOCK 1 INCH BARS (CHROME). SPARES LOW F AND HIGH D [not present]. USED BY JB ON SESSIONS (1930 on) AND LECTURES TO 1979. CLIP NEAR HANDLE FOR TRIANGLE'. Printed label inside the case, 'ENGLISH CHAMBER ORCHESTRA LONDON'. In pencil, 'J. BLADES, SUTTON, SURREY'.
