Flute (koauau) of deer bone, of elliptical cross-section, with three centrally placed finger holes, its entire surface ornamented with complex curvilinear low-relief carving incorporating two pairs of stylized faces in profile in centre, pair of birds at each end with profile head in between; at distal end two human faces back to back and sharing one pair of eyes; at proximal end larger human face and bird.
