Ocarina

This ocarina has been formed into the shape of a shell. Monkeys embrace either end of the shell, wrapping their tails around it - two can be found on one end and one on the other. The centre of the object has been decorated with a triangular pattern. Incised lines encircle one end to form bands. A large hole can be found on the top and bottom of the shell, and a smaller hole pierces either side. A further tiny hole can be found on one side. The object is made from earthenware and a rich brown colour. Traces of red pigment can be found within the grooves of the main pattern. A white pigment can also be found occupying the grooves and crevices. The object has been polished smooth and has a slight shine.
