Lamellaphone

Thumb Piano; This hand made west African version of a lamellophone known in Africa as an mbira, ikembe, likembe, kalimba, karimba, matapee, sansa, or luvale. It has an octave made of eight thin adjustable iron strips wedged over an iron fret. The sound board is fixed with metal pins and glued to a resonator in the form of a carved figurine decorated with a glass bead necklace and head ornaments of cast [lead].
