Treble viol

back: flat, one piece of medium flame sycamore, with flame sloping left to right; bend at shoulder not quite perpendicular to axis of instrument. Belly: of 2 pieces of pine, fairly high arched with groove along waist; soundholes as 'flaming sword' (80 long); ribs: of handsome wood, with faint flame, angled contrary in the waist. Head: for 4 pegs; varnish of golden brown spirit, in good condition. No sign of a hook-bar, but only a narrow strip let in. Length 640, back 380, width 182/128/229; depth 50/39; strings 350
