viol-shaped body, similar to V 11. Back: 1 piece sycamore, well arched and recovered; single purfling carried straight across below the button; varnish dark red on gold, good condition. Belly: 1 piece in pine, well arched, only slightly recovered at edge; f-holes rounded, set upright, rather low on body. Ribs: sycamore round end, rest in plainer wood; varnish crackled on lh side. Endpin ivory, nut ebony. Fingerboard: original; neck in one piece with head, though cut to look spliced; scroll: broad, quite finely cut, but not deeply; pegs: boxwood, ?original. Length 415, back 202, width 104/71/126, depth 30
