Lyre guitar
mounted on a flat base, rectangular, edged with ebony. Back and sides are 2 curved pieces of mahogany with ebony stringing at the edge; the horns are similar; finish: transparent brown. Belly: ?unvarnished, of one piece of pine, purfled with ebony and ivory stringing; bridge: fixed, with 6 ebony pins with ivory spots, extended at the end into a decoration of thin appliqué foliage; upper belly: 2 soundholes each surrounded with purfling, consisting of a ring of 6 centripetal commas pierced in the belly, and an ebony stud in the middle. Neck: ebony with a light streak along the back; its face is slightly convex, with 14 brass frets; head: oval, with 6 posterior pegs of rosewood with pearl spots; between the horns and through the head is a tubular brass cross-strut rod with a raspberry at each end.
