Violin.

Technical description: Soundboard of spruce; back, ribs, neck and head of sycamore; fingerboard, pegs, tail-gut protector of ebony. Soundboard of poor quality workmanship, wide grain and appears to have been stained. It is of noticeably lower quality workmanship than the rest of the instrument and may not be original. Poor quality varnish obscures much of the wood grain. Soundboard arch 15mm. Ebony/sycamore/ebony purfling. Plugged hole from the soundboard into the bottom block. Back and ribs of maple, the ribs of deep figure, the one piece back cut through the burr showing very attractive curly grain. Back arch 15mm. Back with plugged holes at the top and bottom. Neck length 130; fingerboard 252 long, 23.3 wide at nut, 42.6 wide at bottom.
