Technical description: Maple with brass keys, ferrules, butt cap and crook. Brass crook with pinhole with protruding nipple. Wing with crook socket bushed in brass with knurled screw to secure crook for tuning. Thumb-hole for L0 bushed with ring; finger-holes for L1, L3, R2, R3 lined with inserted brass tubes. G♯ shank has a perforated slot to accept a pin acting as guide. Brass collar forming end of long joint permanently fixed into socket. Bottom of butt sealed, not stopped with cork. The D key-hole through tenon and collar. L0: T; B♭; harm 2; harm 1; D; E♭. L1: T. L2: T. L3: T. R0: T; F♯; C♯. R1: T. R2: T. R3: T; B♭. R4: F; A♭. Repair History: Vestiges of C♯ key (pillars and rod only) for L4; key-hole filled. Upper ferrule on butt not original. The B♭ hole has been enlarged. Bottom end of long joint missing; replaced by brass collar fixed in butt socket. B♭ touch extended by semicircular segment of ring to facilitate simultaneous closing of D, C and B♭₁ holes; rectangular patch repairing surface damage. Original varnish removed.
