Violin.
Technical description: Soundboard of spruce; back, ribs, endpin head and neck of sycamore; fingerboard of stained rosewood; pegs of ebony (3) and stained fruitwood (1). A trade instrument with a false Stainer label and having no design similarities to that maker. Brown varnish which has been damaged by a solvent which has spilt on the soundboard. Ebony/sycamore/ebony purfling. Arch of soundboard 13mm. Ribs and two piece back lightly figured, the back figure going towards the bottom at the centre and up towards the edges. Back arch 12mm. Neck 129 long; fingerboard 265 long, 21.4 wide at nut, 42.9 wide at bottom. Repair History: Heel has been repaired where it has broken parallel to the neck.
