Five pieces: mouthpiece, barrel, upper section, lower section, bell.Mouthpiece: dark wood; socket type with ivory ferrule and eleven grooves for the cord.Barrel waisted; tenon for the mouthpiece, wide flat ivory ferrule, because barrel contains brass tuning slide.Upper section: top ornamented with a groove; speaker liner projects into centre of bore.Lower section: Wood's Patent (1819) linkage on L4 E₃/B♮₄ and F♯₃/C♯₅ keys to ease sliding between them.
