Chalumeau'. Nominal pitch: High C.
Technical description: Pear-wood, stained brown, with german silver keys. One-piece body with ebonite mouthpiece for a German B♭ clarinet. Ligature optional, the mouthpiece is also grooved for cord. Thumb-rest. The construction resembles that of a descant recorder. No speaker key; the upper register is produced by 'thumb-nailing' the thumb-hole. Comparable in sounding length to a clarinet in high G, but designated 'in C' because it is designed to play primarily in its bottom register. L0: T. L1: T; straight F♯. L2: T. L3: T. R1: T. R2: T.
