Soprano violin (British nomenclature, descant violin).
Technical description: Soundboard of spruce; ribs, back, neck and head of maple; fingerboard, tailpiece, tail-gut protector, pegs and endpin of ebony. Medium grained soundboard, 16mm arch. Orange varnish. Dyed pear/poplar/dyed pear purfling. Two piece figured back, figure rising from the edges to the centre. Back arch 12mm. Plugged hole on the back at the top, offset from the centre line. Unvarnished neck, 132 long. Fingerboard 249 long, 21.4 wide at nut, 41.0m wide at bottom. Neck and head of one piece.
