Contrabassoon. Nominal pitch: C.
Technical description: Maple; brass keywork, bell rim and crook, possibly original. The crook in two parts with telescopic slide connecting joint. Lower wing: F, G♯, Lower 'long joint': F♯. Upper 'long joint': two interconnected E♭ keys. The lower three joints (lower wing, lower 'long joint' and butt) permanently fixed, with fitting for carrying sling at top end. The other joints dismountable. The open F key tone-hole is bushed to ensure better pad seal. L0: D; E♭. L1: T. L2: T. L3: T. R0: T; F♯. R1: T. R2: T. R3: T. R4: F; A♭.
