Technical description: Boxwood with dark horn half-round ferrules and brass keys. Five pieces: mouthpiece, barrel, upper section, lower section, bell.Upper section: cross keys for F₄/C♮₆ and E♭₄/B♭₅ also opened by side levers. Three cross-keys regulated by cork buffers glued to recesses in the body.Lower section: cross key for B♮₃/F♯₅ also opened by a side lever. Hinge-key partly sunk into body, its travel limited by a guide below the tone-hole; Thumb-rest ivory, almost rudimentary. Bell widely flared, with integral wood rim. 12 keys plus 3 duplicate levers, on axle-pins with hooked ends, heads riveted to shanks except on the four side keys of the upper section; Leaf springs. L0: T; speaker. L1: T; throatA♮. L2: T; throatA♭; cross F₄/C♮₆, also opened by a lever under R1. L3: T; cross E♭₄/B♭₅, also opened by another lever under R1. L4: C♯₄/G♯₅; E₃/B♮₄; F♯₃/C♯₅. R1: T; dup F₄/C♮₆; dup E♭₄/B♭₅. R2: T; cross B♮₃/F♯₅, also opened by a duplicate lever under R3 or R4. R3: T; B♭₃/F♮₅. R4: G&sharp₃/E♭₅; hinged F₃/C♮₅. Keymount type: pillars. Keyhead type: Bun-shaped cup.
