Set of miniature highland bagpipes.

Technical description: Composite set of miniature Highland bagpipes. Ebony with ivory ferrules, tops, and sole; sheepskin bag. Blowpipe and drones are turned with bead and comb decoration. Cocus and ivory chanter - not original to instrument.Chanter: seven finger-holes and one thumb-hole. Lapped tenon with bulb. Ivory sole. Sole is very worn but uncracked. The wood is chipped at the bulb. The chanter shows considerable signs of wear including indentations from the placement of the player's left-hand little finger and right hand thumb.Blowpipe/mouthpiece: black plastic mouthpiece on blowpipe. Lapped tenons. Ivory ferrules on stock.Bass Drone: three sections. Ivory ferrule on top section (probably a replacement as the colour and decoration are different); bone receiving bulb on middle section and ivory ferrule. Bone receiving bulb and ferrule on lower section. Horn receiving tenon on stock.Tenor drone1: two sections. Ivory top and ferrules.Tenor drone2: two sections. Ivory top and ferrules. Ivory top is a replacement as it is a different colour from the rest of the ivory on the instrument. The drone has been stopped with newspaper at end of first section.Bag: sheepskin bag, possibly originalBag cover/cord: no bag cover. There is a remnant of dark blue wool cording tied to the tenor drones.Measurements: chanter length 275, bore beginning at 4.0 and ending at 5.0; bass drone length (not including stock) c540, bore at top 4.5; tenor drones length (not including stock) c215, bore at top 5.0 and 4.6. Repair History: The chanter, mouthpiece, bass drone top section and tenor drone2 ivory top are replacements. The bass drone ivory ferrule and the blowpipe are probably replacements. The blowpipe mouthpiece is a replacement.
