Oboe. Nominal pitch: C.

Technical description: African blackwood with probably silver keys and ferrules. The bell and middle sockets and the reed well are lined probably with german silver. The middle section tenon is tipped with metal. Automatic octave keys with two touches with identical action. The R1 and R3 rings and the R2 plate are all independent of each other although the latter two both close the brille. Depressing the lowC key lowers the R1 and R3 rings and the R2 plate and closes the brille; the conservatoire action is therefore on R1, R2, R3 and the lowC key. The forked F vent stands open. There is no linkage between the lowB key and the lowC and C♯ keys. L0: TP; 81. L1: PP; 82; spat. L2: R; Dtr-alt; . L3: R: D♭ tr. L4: G♯; lowB; lowB♭; E♭-dup. R0: sup. R1: R; TP-dup. R2: PP; Dtr. R3: R; F. R4: lowC; C♯; E♭. Keymount type: pillars. Keyhead type: cups. Repair History: There is a filled hole below and to the right of the second octave key which may indicate the octave key has been moved. There are two circular marks between the F and forked F vents which may indicate the removal of a key.
