Set of presentation Northumbrian pipes to Robert Millar, 1824., Technical description: Set of bellows-blown Northumbrian pipes in ebony with silver and ivory mountings.Chanter: closed chanter of ebony with seven, square, flat keys on wood block mounts. Cylindrical bore. Keys have leaf springs. Chanter stock is ebony with engraved silver mount.Common stock: Ebony mounting block holds the drones into the silver ferrule.Drones: Four drones each of two sections with ivory and silver mounts. Drone 1: ivory stopper and silver tuning bead on top section; drone2: ivory tuning bead at top section and wood stopper; drone3 and drone4 silver tuning bead at top section. Ivory drone top caps.Bellows: bellows with burled wood, bone ring around air intake, metal hook and mounts for straps and metal hinge plates. Leather arm strap and leather hinge ties. Two silver escutcheons above the hook, the first is inscribed with the initials R.M. and the second has decorative leaf pattern with the inscription "DINNA FORGET". Connector pipe: ebony pipe with bone ferrule.Measurements: chanter length c285 (end missing), bore 4.1; drone1 length c317; drone2 length c260; drone3 length c200; drone4 length c165.
