Side drum

Side Drum, brass, 1920 (c); used by Queen Victoria’s Own Corps of Guides Frontier Force; front painted French grey bearing Queen Victoria cypher in centre within a crowned garter inscribed with a motto, above is inscribed the regimental name and on either side are battle honours, to the right the maker’s name is impressed in metal, Besson and Co, London; flesh hoops and drum heads whole; wooden cord hoops with six tension rod brackets painted blue outside with red edge and white worm and white inside with red edge and blue worm; eight snares.
