Bagpipe chanter

Associated with Piper Findlater, 1st Battalion, Gordon Highlanders, Battle of Dargai, India, North West Frontier, Tirah Expeditionary Force (1897-1898). Dedication reads: ‘The smashed chanter on which Piper Findlater VC played at the charge of the Gordons on Dargai Heights Oct 20 1897' Broken and split in two unequal portions, held together with a tapering silver plated cylinder, inscribed with a dedication; smaller part with ivory engine turned disc at broad end; longer part tapered with reeded engine turned knop at one end and eight holes of increasing diameter.
