Transverse flute in C
Side-blown, rosewood flute made in five sections (head, barrel, upper and middle joints, and foot joint), with wooden cap and silver ferrules. Eight silver keys mounted in blocks. The keys have saltspoon-cups, with the exception of the low C and C-sharp keys, which are pewter-plug. The latter keys also have overlapping touches. Flat springs attached to keys. Fully metal-lined head (zinc-plated brass?) with metal tenon extending into metal-lined-socket of barrel. Oval embouchure hole and larger 2nd, 4th and 5th fingerholes. Ivory threaded stopper screw. Nominal pitch: C. This instrument is part of the Albert C. Spencer collection.
