Grand pianoforte

Mahogany veneered grand piano with 90 keys (G0-C7: seven octaves plus 5 notes). This instrument was built in Paris for the London firm of Érard, probably as a private commission.

  • Decorative elements:Marquetry Egyptian decoration throughout the case. Gilt bronze ibis birds with spread wings on corners of case. Legs in the form of wooden Egyptian figures with Nemes headdress and enameled metal belts and bracelets. The figures carry a crook in one hand and the "piano" on the other hand.
